Internships may be carried out at external structures, both public and private, that have been deemed suitable by the School of Psychology, in agreement with the relevant Professional Board, where psychological activities are carried out and where one or more psychologists regularly registered with the Register are present, with a professional relationship consistent with the relevant role.
It is not possible to carry out the internship at private practices.
Exclusively for internships aimed at registration in Section A of the Register, it is possible to carry out the internship abroad only at public institutions (e.g., hospitals or healthcare facilities) where psychological activities are conducted, and where a psychologist is present (Note: Internship abroad is currently suspended, as per the instructions below).
According to Decree No. 567 of 20/06/2022, it is no longer possible to carry out internships at the structures or laboratories of Italian or foreign universities.
According to Article 2 of Interministerial Decree No. 567 of 20/06/2022 and Article 2 of Interministerial Decree No. 654 of 05/07/2022, part of the external TPV activities are carried out at public or private healthcare facilities accredited and contracted with the National Health Service. If such facilities cannot ensure the adequate and effective availability of psychology services and related tutors, the external TPV can be entirely carried out at other external entities affiliated with universities and meeting the criteria outlined in the next article.
External TPVs are not permitted:
Internships at External Structures (Public or Private)
External structures, whether public or private, must obtain approval (assessed by the Integrated University-Order Commission) as an authorized internship location and must subsequently sign an internship agreement with the School of Psychology. Internship activities cannot begin before the agreement is signed.
The list of affiliated locations is updated every six months.
Note: The expiration date of the agreement for each location is indicated in the "descriptive sheet" in the yellow box.
IMPORTANT:
The School Board, in its meetings on 13/03/2024 and 07/05/2024, approved the following:
Pending more specific ministerial guidelines, the possibility of carrying out internships abroad for all TPVs (Practical Evaluation Internships), both for students in the new LM/51 qualification program and for graduates from the old LM/51 non-qualifying program (who must complete the 750-hour post-graduate TPV), will be temporarily suspended for the academic year 2024/25 until further notice.
Internships abroad are only possible in the following two cases:
It is only possible to carry out the internship abroad at public institutions (e.g., hospitals or healthcare structures) where psychological activities are performed and where a psychologist is present.
The internship abroad is a personal internship; therefore, it is the intern’s responsibility to make direct contact with the foreign institutions.
The host institution must be deemed suitable by the School of Psychology’s Internship Commission, which will grant prior authorization for the internship.
To obtain prior authorization, the intern must submit the following documents to the Internship Office (tirocini@psico.unifi.it) before applying according to the procedure on the page here:
Once prior authorization has been obtained from the Internship Commission, the practice must be formalized with the presentation of the signed Convention Agreement form (updated) from the legal representative of the institution, establishing the internship's details (duration, content, and activities to be performed).
Additionally, the intern must apply for the internship following the procedure detailed here: https://www.psicologia.unifi.it/vp-169-fare-domanda-di-tirocinio.html
