Elements of functional neuroanatomy. Assessment of the neurological patient e principles of neurological semiology (symptomatology, functional, motor, cognitive and psychiatric disturbances). Instrumental and laboratory exams, and differential diagnosis. Impairment of cognitive functions (elements of neuropsychology, dementia diagnostic criteria and principals clinical presentations, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Frontotemporal dementia, primary progressive aphasias). Definition of the principal types of cognitive decline and dementia: neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular syndromes. Cognitive rehabilitation: definition, principles and rationale of rehabilitative approaches for cognitive impairment. Neuroscientific bases of cognitive rehabilitation: neuronal plasticity. Cognitive rehabilitation for dementias.
