Section B of the Professional Register

The Presidential Decree 328/01 stipulates that, in order to practice the profession of Doctor in Psychological Techniques, graduates from class 34 and class L24 must obtain professional qualification through the State Examination and be registered in Section B of the Register. To be admitted to the State Examination for Section B, it is necessary, after completing the three-year degree, to undertake a six-month practical internship aimed at acquiring the skills, methodologies, and operational tools related to the professional practice of a Doctor in Psychological Techniques, as defined by Law No. 170/03.

Presidential Decree 328/01 outlines two sectors for professional activity:

  • Psychological techniques for social, organizational, and work contexts
  • Psychological techniques for services to individuals and the community

The State Examination for Section B is divided between the two sectors. Therefore, those registered in one sector who wish to be registered in the other sector must obtain the relevant qualification by passing a specific State Examination limited to the tests and subjects specific to the sector they wish to access (Presidential Decree 328/01 - Art. 3, paragraph 4).

In accordance with the regulations governing professional activity, the professional practice undertaken during the internship for a Doctor in Psychological Techniques must be distinctly separate from that of a psychologist, a role for which a different and subsequent training pathway is required.

Those registered in Section B are entitled to the professional title of Doctor in Psychological Techniques, differentiated by sector into:

  1. Doctor in Psychological Techniques for social, organizational, and work contexts
  2. Doctor in Psychological Techniques for services to individuals and the community
