Instructions for Erasmus Study Program Awardees

IMPORTANT:

  1. Departure is only allowed from the second year of the Bachelor's program, and all five prerequisite exams must be successfully completed first.
  2. Students wishing to go on Erasmus in the first year of their Master’s program may depart only after formalizing their enrollment in the Master’s program (likely beginning in the second semester).
  3. Do not schedule departures without a Learning Agreement signed by both the University of Florence and the host university. This Learning Agreement is also required to sign the contract with the Outgoing Office, which manages contracts and scholarships.
  4. For insurance reasons, it is not permitted to depart without a signed contract with the Outgoing Office.
  5. Exams must be taken and passed within the mobility period; if an exam date falls outside the mobility period, students must request an extension using the form in the "forms" section. This extension must be approved by both institutions and sent to the International Relations Office (Erasmus+) for Psychology, which will forward it to the Outgoing Mobility Office (Erasmus and non-EU) at Via della Pergola, 60.
  6. The total mobility period across different programs (study, double degree, traineeship, non-EU) cannot exceed 12 months per degree level (12 months for a Bachelor’s, 12 months for a Master’s).

BEFORE ACCEPTING THE ASSIGNED DESTINATION

  1. Since there are no automatic restrictions, ensure that the assigned destination has an agreement compatible with your level of study at the time of departure (1 = Bachelor’s, 2 = Master’s, 3 = PhD). Note that the School of Psychology does not have a five-year single-cycle Master’s program, so where it says "Bachelor’s and single-cycle Master’s," it applies only to the Bachelor’s level. If there is an incompatibility between the assigned location and your level of study, contact the International Relations Office before accepting. Remember that if your first choice was assigned by the system, you cannot refuse it (or risk being excluded from the ranking); therefore, attempts will be made to arrange a location change after the end of reassignments. If the assigned location is not your first choice, you may decline and remain on the ranking list.
  2. Review the course offerings at the assigned destination in relation to your program’s exams (especially important if the Learning Agreement was not previously filled out for this location). Check the partner university’s website for any restrictions in exam selection (some universities only allow students to choose courses from the Bachelor’s program rather than the Master’s).

AFTER ACCEPTING THE ASSIGNED DESTINATION

After accepting the assigned destination, if the semester specified in your application does not match the semester you wish to depart, you must immediately inform the International Relations Office at ripsico@unifi.it. It is important that the Office is aware of your actual departure semester, as some locations have strict nomination deadlines that cannot be extended. The office will make nominations based on the communicated semester, thus informing the host country of your Erasmus stay for the selected semester (1st or 2nd). If you choose the 1st semester, this should be seen as a preference, not a guarantee; nomination depends on partner deadlines, so if the ranking and acceptances are published after the deadline, you may need to postpone to the second semester.

The host will send you an acceptance email (currently, these acceptances are conditional) and instructions for the enrollment process. Some universities require course details along with the APPLICATION FORM; in such cases, these courses must first be approved by the ERASMUS DELEGATE, so you may proceed with the application only after the Learning Agreement is approved by the Delegate.

The Learning Agreement must be submitted by June 30 for first-semester departures (unless the partner requires it earlier) and by September 30 for second-semester departures. You may create a new Learning Agreement or revise the one uploaded on TURUL for the assigned location. The International Relations Office will provide support and act as an intermediary with Prof. Del Viva, the Erasmus delegate, who will review and approve your Learning Agreement.

HOW TO COMPLETE THE LEARNING AGREEMENT:

The Learning Agreement is the document through which the student specifies the courses they plan to take during their Erasmus stay.

The Learning Agreement should be completed online following the instructions in the handbook. In cases covered by Method 2 (see handbook), the Learning Agreement may be submitted in paper format.

For the provisional Learning Agreement to become final, it must be approved by both the sending university (our Erasmus delegate) and the receiving university (Erasmus delegate in the host country). It is possible that after approval by the University of Florence, the partner may request changes.

Required Courses: The student should find corresponding courses at the host institution that match the content of mandatory courses in Italy. While completing the Learning Agreement, students must link course descriptions with credits (ECTS) and contact hours.

Note: If the ECTS credits of courses in the host country differ from the CFUs in Italy, students may include two (or more) foreign courses for one Italian course. The delegate may also consider contact hours to meet any missing CFU requirements.

Elective Courses: There is no content-matching requirement for elective courses taken abroad. If there is no match, they can be classified under TAF D. Elective courses taken abroad and included in TAF D in the Learning Agreement will be recognized with their original foreign title and credit value (ECTS=CFU). After returning from the mobility period and following the recognition approval, the student must resubmit their study plan, including the recognized course as an elective (with code and title). Note that the number of elective courses that can be recognized cannot exceed the number specified in your study program; please check the number of elective credits allowed before including credits in the Learning Agreement that may exceed this limit.
