How to apply

If you’re thinking about going on Erasmus, remember to book a language certification test at the CLA - University Language Center, as this certification is required (per the call for applications) to be eligible for selection! To apply, you must have a language certificate verifying your knowledge (even if minimal) of a foreign language. The required level must be attained within the timeframe set by the Partner University or, if unspecified, before departure.

The Erasmus+ Study Call is issued at the beginning of each year and published in the international mobility section of the university’s website. The mobility period occurs during the academic year following the call’s publication.

Eligibility for the Erasmus Selection Call

Students of any nationality regularly enrolled at the University of Florence may apply to the Erasmus+ Study Call if they are in one of the following programs:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (students can apply starting in their second year, provided they have passed all five core exams: Anatomical and Physiological Foundations of Psychic Processes, General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, and Psychometrics)
  • A Master’s degree
  • A PhD program

Students planning to apply in their final year of a Bachelor’s program and to start their Erasmus in the first year of a Master’s program may participate only after their Master’s enrollment is formalized (likely starting in the second semester).

Students who have previously participated in Erasmus are also eligible to apply, but the total duration cannot exceed 12 months per cycle of study (12 months for Bachelor’s + 12 months for Master’s).

Applying for the Erasmus Program

Once the call is issued, interested students should:

  • Carefully read the Call and verify that they meet the requirements
  • Consult available destinations for Psychology by selecting “School of Psychology” from the dropdown menu on TURUL. Candidates can list up to 5 preferred destinations. Check that an agreement is in place for the desired destination and level of study (1 = Bachelor’s, 2 = Master’s, 3 = PhD).
  • Visit the websites of foreign universities, review their course offerings, and identify courses (mandatory or elective) to include in their study plan. Pay attention to the credit conversion between CFU and ECTS (1 ECTS = 1 CFU). If the credits for foreign exams are less than those for Italian exams, students may list multiple foreign exams to cover an Italian exam.
  • Complete the online application on the TURUL platform by the deadline and fill out the provisional Learning Agreement (filling out the Learning Agreement is mandatory for the first-choice location but strongly recommended for all selected destinations).
Consult the file with links to partner university websites, course offerings, and examples of approved exams from the School of Psychology in recent years.

Note on mobility study levels: Level I = Bachelor’s only; Level II = Master’s only; Level III = PhD

Note on language proficiency levels required by the host institution for attending classes: this level must be obtained before the Partner’s application procedure or, at the latest, before departure.

Ranking and Acceptance

The eligibility ranking will be visible through the TURUL application, and the final list of students, including their assigned destinations, will be published by the Rector on the University website after all departments have completed their allocations: Erasmus and International Mobility.

Rankings, organized by department, including merit scores, destinations, and proposed number of months, will be available:

I. For students via the application at https://ammissioni.unifi.it II. For PhD students on the Erasmus and International Mobility page

All information related to selection, including rankings and possible reassignments, will be available to students on the “your competitions” page. Students will not receive individual notifications.

Students must log in to https://ammissioni.unifi.it within the deadlines listed on the “your competitions” page to accept or decline their assigned destination.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students who do not accept the location assigned as their first choice are automatically excluded from the ranking and considered as having declined the Erasmus+ for Study mobility.

If assigned a destination other than their first choice, students may:

  • Accept the proposed option
  • If they prefer not to accept the proposed destination, they can select the “remain on the ranking list” option, awaiting a potential reassignment.

Reassignments will continue until all available spots are filled. Information on reassignments, timelines, and procedures will be available in the dedicated application section at https://ammissioni.unifi.it.

The successful candidate who has confirmed their spot will have access to the Learning Agreement functionality again, allowing them to edit or complete the Agreement for the assigned location.

Instructions for Erasmus Study Program Awardees

Language Preparation

Once selected, students must meet the language requirements of the assigned partner university. Even if not required at the time of application, the level required by the Partner must be obtained and certified before the deadline and according to the host university’s policies. It is essential to verify language requirements on the host university’s website.

The CLA (University Language Center) offers students the opportunity to take language courses and exams to obtain language certification.

Important! The Erasmus mobility period must be at least 90 days and must end by September 30 of the year following the application. Extensions for academic reasons are possible, but the total period must not exceed 12 months. Only certified days of mobility, verified by the form attesting to the actual duration of the study period abroad, will be funded.
