The University Language Center (CLA) offers hundreds of courses in various foreign languages each year to UNIFI students who need to pass language proficiency tests required by their degree programs. Additionally, the CLA provides various courses at different levels for learning and improving proficiency in major foreign languages.

The service is available to students enrolled in Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. programs at the University of Florence.
To register, students must log in using the same credentials as their University online services (SOL) account (STUDENT ID and PASSWORD) - REGISTER ONLINE.
The CLA offers Italian language courses mainly for international mobility students (Erasmus+, Cultural Agreements, Euniwell, etc.), foreign students enrolled at the University of Florence, and, depending on availability, to affiliated and external users.
Those intending to enroll in a degree program at the University of Florence, which requires proof of foreign language proficiency (typically at the B2 level for access to Master's programs), can take the language proficiency test for €24.00.

The basic LIS course offered by the CLA includes the following phases:
Introduction to knowledge of hearing disabilities and the Deaf community, an overview of Sign Languages worldwide and systematic studies on LIS, CVG and "gymnastics," visual perception and discrimination, production and understanding of signs, interactions through pair and group work, viewing LIS videos, and performing requests.
