Starting from the summer graduation session in July 2014, the ONLINE THESIS procedure was introduced, and therefore, all graduation applications must now be submitted exclusively online. The paper version has been abolished for all degree types (Bachelor's and Master's), both for the graduation application and for the thesis, which no longer needs to be printed or bound. The entire procedure is carried out online by accessing the “Online Services” area under “Submit Thesis Application.” Only the request for the thesis supervisor remains in paper form.
Since any operation within this procedure may be subject to malfunctions in both university and external servers, it is recommended to complete all necessary actions well in advance of the deadlines and during times when support services are available.
To submit the graduation application, the student must have already obtained the signature of the thesis supervisor on the Thesis Supervisor Assignment Form.
From the date indicated in the calendar under "OPENING," the graduating student can enter the “Online Services” area under the “Submit Thesis Application” section, accessible with their student ID and personal password from the university's online services page. The initial page of the application will display only the active graduation sessions for the student’s Degree Program, along with deadlines for various required steps in each phase. The student should complete the application as follows:
IF THE STUDENT DOES NOT SAVE AND CLOSE THE APPLICATION, THE THESIS SUPERVISOR CANNOT APPROVE IT.
Once the application is saved by the student, the thesis supervisor will receive an email notification to their institutional address about the graduation application. The supervisor must log into the Online Services and approve the graduation application. Once approved by the supervisor, no further changes can be made to the application. Please note that the email notification does not guarantee that the supervisor has received it, so the student should check the application to ensure it has been approved.
The student must close the application by the deadline. However, the supervisor can approve the application even after this deadline, as long as the approval occurs before the "consolidation" deadline.
If the supervisor does not approve the application, the student cannot proceed with the consolidation, and the process will be blocked—i.e., the student will have to cancel the graduation application in the system and forgo graduating.
Once the thesis supervisor has approved the application, an automatic message will be sent to the student's institutional email address (name.surname@stud.unifi.it) confirming the approval. The sending of the message does not guarantee that the student has received it, so they should check the application to confirm the status of the application.
After approval by the thesis supervisor, the student must return to the system by the specified deadline under the "CONSOLIDATION" section to:
To access the thesis defense, the student must be up to date with their payments, including the graduation fee, and must have acquired the required number of credits.
The Student Office will verify the student's academic record, contact the student in case of administrative irregularities, and may send payment slips for any unpaid fees to the student's institutional email.
This does not exempt the student, who is aware of any administrative irregularities or unpaid fees, from promptly contacting the Student Office to regularize their position.
For Bachelor's degrees, once the application is consolidated, no further actions are required in the online system either from the student or from the thesis supervisor.
When the graduation committees are published on the School's website, approximately 7-10 days before the defense date, the student must send the thesis in PDF format to the three committee members and the thesis supervisor by email. If requested by the thesis supervisor, the student must also provide a printed copy.
The student is not required to submit their record book to the Student Office; however, the office may request it in the case of exams that are not yet recorded.
Students are required to complete all exams by the deadline established in the academic calendar posted on the School’s website.
If the student has not passed all the exams required by their approved study plan or has not completed the thesis, they must return to the system, CANCEL the application, and resubmit it for a later session.
LEGEND OF FIELDS IN THE APPLICATION:
The application includes numerous FAQs (frequently asked questions) regarding the various stages of the procedure. It is recommended to carefully read these before contacting psicologia.tesi.online@unifi.it for further assistance.
Note: For Bachelor's degrees, the submission of the thesis text is not required, and therefore there is neither the uploading of the thesis nor validation by the Supervisor. The submission of the application is considered complete and finalized with the confirmation of the application and payment of the INC01 fee.
