Final Exam Characteristics

The final exam for obtaining a Bachelor's degree takes place in four different sessions according to the academic calendar and consists of a discussion of a written thesis that evaluates the competencies acquired in a key area of the Degree Program. To access the final exam, students must have earned all the credits assigned to the activities outlined in their study plan.

Degree Grade

For the final exam, the grade is expressed in one hundred and ten, with the possibility of a unanimous mention of honors (lode). The evaluation will take into account the student's exam grades, calculated as a weighted average based on the total CFUs (credit points) earned. Starting from the cohort of students enrolled in the academic year 2015/2016 in the Bachelor's degree program in Psychological Sciences and Techniques (Class L-24), a bonus is introduced: a point increase to the weighted average as follows:

  • 2 points for students who graduate within the normal duration of the course;
  • 0.25 points for each honors mention, up to a maximum of 2 points;
  • 1 point for each Erasmus experience completed with at least one passed exam;
  • 1 point for Tutor Students (without a MIUR scholarship) who conduct at least 20 meetings, and 2 points for those who conduct at least 40 meetings.

The minimum passing grade for the final exam is 66/110.

Procedure for the Final Exam in Bachelor’s Degree Programs

The final exam (5 CFU) for Bachelor's degree programs consists of an oral defense of a written thesis assigned by a faculty member (supervisor), intended to demonstrate the candidate's acquisition of knowledge and competencies related to the specific learning objectives of the program. The final evaluation will consider the time taken to complete the degree as well as the student's academic record.

  • Students who have earned at least 145 CFU can request a faculty member to assign a topic for their written thesis by submitting the appropriate Tutor Assignment Request Form, duly completed. They must also attach a self-certification of the exams they have taken, which can be downloaded from the Online Services section of the university website using their student ID and password. Students may self-certify any exams that have been taken but not yet registered in their academic record, by adding them manually. The faculty members will verify the completion of 145 CFU, as indicated by the student's request, and keep track of the students who have accepted the assignment.
  • Each faculty member is required to accept at least 5 students per session; any faculty member from the school can act as a tutor, provided the topic of the thesis is relevant to the core areas of the degree program.
  • Once the supervisor's signature is obtained, the student must keep a copy of the acceptance form. The request is not to be submitted to the Student Office nor uploaded to the drive; it remains an agreement between the student and supervisor.
  • In the case of cancellation of the graduation application, the tutor assignment form remains valid for subsequent graduation sessions, while the graduation application itself must be resubmitted.
  • The student will contact the supervisor to begin the work and can receive ongoing assistance and a final review of the thesis, including online if necessary.
  • The candidate must submit the thesis application online by accessing the Online Services section of the university website with their student ID and password.
  • The thesis may be a maximum of 30 pages, with 1.5 line spacing.
  • The graduation committee will consist of 3 members.
  • By the deadline set and once the final exam committees are published, the student must send the thesis to the three committee members and to their supervisor via email in PDF format. If requested by the supervisor, the student must provide a printed copy. The committee will have a range of 0 to 3 points to add to the average grade from the student’s previous exams for the final oral evaluation.
