Prerequisiti Elementi di biologia cellulare.
Conoscenza approfondita dell'anatomia del sistema nervoso umano e dei
meccanismi neurobiologici alla base della conduzione e trasmissione dei
segnali nervosi e delle sinapsi.
Metodi didattici Lezioni frontali ed esercitazioni consistenti nella discussione in classe di
articoli scientifici ( 10 ore)

Prova orale
La prova orale verterà sulla conoscenza e sulla capacità di integrare gli
argomenti trattati durante il corso . Inoltre ogni stdente presenterà e
discuterà uno degli articoli scientifici presentati durante il corso
Programma esteso Metodi di indagine e diagnosi del sistema nervoso ed esempi di ambiti di
applicazione ai sistemi sensoriali, motorio, sistemi di memoria e
linguaggio.
Regolazione dell’omeostasi: meccanismi neurali, ormonali e
comportamentali alla base dell’omeostasi della temperatura, del bilancio
idro-salino, del peso corporeo del ciclo sonno-veglia.
Basi dei processi motivazionali.
Relazioni tra sistema ormonale, nervoso e immunitario.
Psicobiologia e psicofisiologia della motivazione, delle emozioni, dello
stress e dell'aggressività.
Basi neurobiologiche e neurofisiologiche dei principali disturbi del
sistema nervoso: depressione, schizofrenia, disturbi del sistema motorio,
disturbi del linguaggio, disturbi della memoria e apprendimento.
Effetti generali delle sostanze neurolettiche e conoscenza specifica degli
effetti dei principali tipi di droghe.
Being able to understand current researches and assessment methods in
several fields of cognitive neuroscience and to know the proper
implementation of the techniques studied during the course.

Being able to understand potentialities and limits of the studies in the
fields covered by the course
Communication skills
These skills will be tested either at the end of each lecture, were students
will be asked to comment and discuss about the topics of the lecture and
the scientific papers presented, and during the oral test where they will
present and discuss one these scientific paper of their choice.
Learning skills
The topics of this course are fundamental for understanding the topics of
other courses of this undergraduate programme (L24) and of Master
programme (LM51).
They are also fundamental to understand procedures and techniques
used in the field of Cognitive Neuroscience.

Basic notions about cell structure.
Good understanding of the anatomy of the human nervous system and of
the neurobiological and physiological mechanisms underlying
transmission and conduction of signals.

Lectures and in-class discussion about scientific papers (10 hours)

Oral test
The oral exam will test the comprehension and integration of the topics
of the course. Each student will also present and discuss one of the
papers introduced during the lectures

Main investigative and diagnostic techniques of the nervous system and
their application to sensory motor memory and language systems.
Mechanisms underlying homeostatic processes: homeostasis of
temperature, weight, fluids, sleep-wake cycle.
Neural mechanisms underlying motivation and decision processes.
Relationships amongst hormone release, nervous and immune systems
Psychobiology and psychophysiology of emotions stress and
aggressiveness.
Physiology and neurobiology of major disorders of the nervous system :
depression, schizophrenia, motor deficits, language and memory
disorders.
Psychopharmacology and effects of most common drugs.
