Learning Objectives
The Clinical Psychology program aims to provide a theoretical framework of reference of the discipline in the variety of its joints and provide some basic tools necessary to evaluate the different types of request of psychological help.
The course provides students: 1) The transition from experimental and quasi-experimental research to clinical intervention; 2) The analysis of application and diagnostic process in clinical psychology; 3) Characteristics and methods of use of clinical instruments of psychological investigation; 4) Management of the first interview, the management of the case report
Particular emphasis will be given to understanding the complexity of the management of individuals through the study of the clinical cases, illustrated and discussed in classroom.
The course provides students with the knowledge necessary for the activity concerning the psychological analysis and the correct communication with the figures who are involved in various mental health fields.
The topics treated in the course of clinical psychology are indispensable for the preparation of the final Test and for the attendance of the master's degree courses oriented towards clinical psychologists.

Course program
Aim of the course is to illustrate the essential of clinical psychology and its complexity. It will be stressed to adopt a phenomenological as well hermeneutic perspective in the clinical work. The cocept of “demand analysis” will be discussed in length. The unifying element throughout the course will be an integrative perspective, to avoid to get caught by “fashionable” last minute models which cyclically pop up inside this discipline. In the applied part of the course, the most common mental disorders will be described and analyzed. An important part of the course will deal with personality disorders and with assessment instrument to demonstrate the different phases of clinical intervention.
