Know and recognize the main concepts and theoretical approaches elaborated in the field of psychology of career counseling starting from its bases. Recognize main tools, modalities and application procedures. Choose methodological and instrumental orientations for intervention on the basis of the characteristics of specific contexts. Develop specific relational skills, particularly for team work, through interaction, negotiation, and production in small groups.
Making judgements
Students will be invited to reflect on the subjects matter of the course, to argue by developing a critical attitude anchored to scientific bases, actively and constructively participating in work and group discussions and in class.
Communication skills
Learning a vocabulary relevant to the subject of study and the use of a technical language to communicate and argue the concepts studied. Practicing communicative and relational skills even in small group context, particularly in the processes of collaboration, negotiation, decision-making and production.

Course program
The program of “Psychology of career counseling: theories and methods” aims to offer the student an introduction to reference paradigms and main research and interventions in the field of psychology of career counseling starting from its bases with particular reference to life meaning for the 21st century, providing basic knowledge and competences for intervention in this domain. The course is divided into three parts. The first part introduce to the most important theories of psychology of career counseling, starting from its bases, to the new perspectives of psychology of career counseling, to career counseling as privileged modality for intervention within the new paradigm for the 21st century. The second part addresses application aspects of the psychological accompaniment based on sense development; stages, contents and tools for activating individual or collective intervention devices focused on psychological accompaniment; case study in individual psychological accompaniment). The third part addresses theoretical and intervention perspectives of competence assessment (definition of the term 'competence'; theoretical framework of the competence assessment; origin of the competence assessment, characteristics of competence assessment, competence assessment actions and its phases, retrospective dimension and prospect, project; application tools in competence assessment; autobiography; testing).
