The aim of the course is that of providing the student with
- basic notions about computer architecture, operating systems and computer networks;
- basic knowledge about the suite Office (focusing on Excel);
- the capability to parse a data file and transform it into different data formats;
- basic skills about problem solving and computer programming using Matlab and PsychToolBox; - basic skills for a proper use of the static and dynamic web.

Hints of numeric and alphanumeric information encoding. Computer architecture: analysis of the main characteristics and features of the machine devices (CPU, cache, RAM, ROM). Analysis of the characteristics and functions of storage memories and I/O devices. Definition of software and study of the main characteristics and functions of operating systems with particular reference to Windows like environments. Notions on the potential and characteristics of electronic sheets (suit Office). Study of the instruments in them made available (in particular functions and formulae). Network architecture hints. Analysis of the various services available through the network with particular reference to static and
dynamic Web. Algorithmic Reasoning: definition of the problem, production of a solution, description
of the solution formulated, coding of the solution.
The main elements of a programming language: the concepts of constant, variable, conditional instructions and cycles,
