Knowledge and understanding.
The course aims to provide a fundamental knowledge on: a) the theoretical and methodological aspects of contemporary research in developmental psychology; b) the processes and mechanisms that regulate psychological development in cognitive, linguistic, emotional and social competence across the life span, with particular reference to risk and protective factors in typical or atypical development.
Applying knowledge and understanding.
The course will provide students the basic, theoretical and methodological, skills necessary to detect the main stages of psychological development over the life span.
Making judgments.
Particular emphasis will be paid to develop a critical attitude, and to teach students how to express their opinions and sustain their point of view in front of the group or of the class.
Communication skills.
The course will provide to the students the knowledge necessary to use a correct and apppropriate vocabulary.

It will be favoured the ability to stress, presenting different topics, the issues which are the most debated in developmental psychological research as to develop by the students a critical look, which can in the future enhance a periodical revision of the acquired contents of developmental psychology.

The course will offer to the students the knowledge needed in order to learn a correct vocabulary, used in developmental psychology and an efficient way to communicate and discuss the studied concepts.
Lifelong learning skills
The historical framework of the phenomena studied by developmental psychology will be requested in order to facilitate the ability to rexamine one's knowing during lifelong learning.

Oral lessons: some of them will be held by experts, i.e. pertaining observation, how to present psychological contents, bibliographic research. At the beginning of each lesson the teacher will ask some questions, pertaining the former lesson to which the students will be requested to answer, 4 hours.
Applying knowledge and understanding.
Short individual anonymous homework pertaining psychological phenomena observed by the students will be requested,: it will be voluntary and not evaluated with a grade by the teacher but collectively discussed in classroom, 4 hours.

Class discussione about news, at disposal on line, to be interpreted in developmental psychological terms.
Communication skills
The use a correct vocabulary, specific for different subjects will be stressed during the lessons.

The historical and cultural framework of developmental psycholgy's research will be stressed.

Written proof with 6 open ended questions and voluntary oral examination for students who got a sufficient evaluation in the written proof. The oral examination can enhance the evaluation of the written proof and let students deepen the subjects of the written proof.
