Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: (i) understand the basics of experimental and correlational research in psychology; (ii) use data analysis software; (iii) prepare a research report; (iv) evaluate research on the basis of its construct validity, internal validity, external validity, statistical validity, and conformity to APA's ethical principles.

Topics will include an introduction to the scientific method, an overview of experimental design and correlational research, and an emphasis on measurement and error, experimental control, descriptive statistics, statistical inference, scientific writing, and ethical issues in empirical research. The following data analysis techniques will be discussed: multiple regression, analysis of covariance, analysis of variance, post-hoc multiple comparisons, relative importance of the predictors. Students will learn how to use a software for analyzing psychological data and how to prepare a research report using APA publication style.
