The following topics are included in the course: the historical development of Cognitive Psychology; theories on the neural bases of cognitive processes (with particular reference to categorization processes); research models and investigative techniques; and tools to evaluate cognitive processes; dissociation between explicit and implicit processes.

1) History of cognitive psychology: serial and parallel model, cognitive processes (memory, attention, perception). 2) development of cognitive neuroscience. 3) bottom-up and top-down processing; interplay between sensory and cognitive variables; object recognition. 4) cognitive processes different approach; behavioural method (reaction time, accuracy) and electrophysiological method (event-related potentials, transcranic magnetic stimulation). 5) the organization of knowledge in living and non living things. 6) implicit and explicit processes; conscousness.
